If Only

I don’t like the phrase “if only”; it reminds me of all the things that I regret doing or living, in the past.. Moreover; thinking about a matter and saying “if only” makes you linger, it makes it difficult to move on, it delays recovering from that experience.. hence, my dislike..

Anyway..

So, as the title suggests this movie is about regrets, but it’s also about learning from mistakes and doing something about them.. Or, to be more specific, it’s about Ian whose girlfriend dies in an accident just after they had a fight and who gets a chance to relive the day again, in the hope of saving his girlfriend.

I quite liked the movie; liked how the story developed –well, except the ending really- and the characters; especially Ian.. aawww..

Gets an 8/10 from me..

İnsan düşünüyor, sevdiklerinin hayatında nasıl oluyor da görünmez birine dönüşüyor birgün? Hayatın neresinde değişiyor öncelik sıraları ve uğruna kalp kırdığımız 'önemli'ler yolun sonunda kaç para ediyor?


Ian, Samantha'nın hayatında mîlat... Bir kalp atışı süresinde seçebileceği, ayrı kalacağı iki haftayı sonsuzluk gibi hissedeceği, önemsediği, benimsediği, dinlediği, çok ama çok sevdiği, hayatını çevresine inşa ettiği bir mîlat... Tanıştıkları gün günlüğüne düştüğü not bir gün Ian'ın parmak uçlarında sızı...

Özür dilediği, fazlasını veremediği, eli yandığında buz getirdiği, kaldırım kenarında kaldığında yanına koştuğu ama hep bir aceleyle, hep iki arada bir derede, hep başka şeylerden arta kalan zamanlarda sevdiği... ama... çok sevdiği, kendisini onsuz düşünemediği... bir kenar süsü...

Samantha ile Ian arasında geçen bir tatsızlık sonucunda Ian, tanımadığı bir adamla yaptığı konuşmada kimi sorularına cevap buluyor...

- I can't seem to make her happy. How can you love someone so much... and not know... how to love 'em?
- So you do love her?
- Yes, very much.
- Well, that's all that matters.
- She's going away tomorrow for two weeks. And she wants me to go with her.
- What if she never came back?
- What sort of a question is that?
- Well, go on, picture it. You wave goodbye at the airport, she gets on an airplane, you never see her again. Could you live with that?
- No.
- Well, you know what to do. Appreciate her... and what you have. Just love her.

Onu sevmek için zamanı oluyor Ian'ın... Çok kısa. Ancak kuvvetli. Öyle ki, kazanmakla kaybetmek yer değiştiriyor. Bir zincirin ucuna dizer gibi kıymetlilerini, kelimeleri dudaklarının kıvrımına inci yapıyor;
